The Collections and Archives Department of the Battleship Missouri Memorial is tasked with the preservation of her proud legacy, documentation and interpretation of her history, and recording and archiving of the experiences and tangible references belonging to those who gave her life and purpose, honoring their service and to always remember.

The Collections & Archives Department offers a rich and expanding resource of materials in support of the Battleship Missouri Memorial’s mission:

The Collections & Archives Department strives to acquire information and tangible resources related to Battleship Missouri's history, her crews and the historic context in which they served, to preserve these resources for future generations, and to actively pursue research, scholarship and educational opportunities for the benefit of individuals and the community at large.

Scope of Collections & Archives

The Battleship Missouri Memorial actively collects artifacts and archival material relative to, originating from, pertaining to the history of, or in reference to the historic context surrounding, or technical and operational aspects of USS Missouri (BB-63), or connected to individuals with personal experience or knowledge of the Battleship Missouri, her design, construction, operation, maintenance, command, organization, history and historic context in which she served. Furthermore, the memorial also passively collects artifacts and archival material that may provide greater insight and understanding of the Missouri and her crews as representative of and participants in historic events and reflective of maritime, American and world history.
